Large Art Deco earrings circa 1940 in 18-karat white gold with 2.25 carats of diamonds & blue sapphires:
Art Déco (ca. 1915-1945) stands for elegance, symmetry and luxury in a modern form.
After the playful lines of Art Nouveau, Art Déco strove for clarity and structure - inspired by architecture,
Machine aesthetics and glamor.
These impressive, rare Art Déco earrings come from Germany and were created around 1940 - at a time
when the Art Deco style reached its peak of architectural clarity and geometric sophistication.
The earrings are masterfully crafted in 18 carat white gold, intricately set with diamonds and sapphires on the front.
With an astonishing length of 5.7 cm, they are magnificent yet elegant pieces,
that unite movement, light and color in an impressive way.
A total of 52 diamonds - together around 2.25 carats - have been used,
whose sparkling brilliance contrasts perfectly with the 40 deep blue sapphires.
Some of the diamonds are set in fine millegrain settings, allowing them to unfold their brilliance to optimum effect.
The sapphires are carré-cut and precisely channel-set,
which gives the piece of jewelry the linear, architectural austerity typical of the 1940s.
The design is strictly geometric, with a round-set diamond forming the top of each piece,
followed by a vertical bar of square-set sapphires.
Below this is a wider, rectangular element, reminiscent of the typical stepped and façade shapes of Art Deco
of Art Déco.
Three even lines - set with alternating rows of diamonds and sapphires - hang down from this central part
Diamonds and sapphires - giving the earrings a rhythmic, almost architectural dynamic.
The overall composition shows what makes Art Deco jewelry so unmistakable,
the combination of a clear design language, luxurious materials and technical precision.
The combination of cool white gold, brilliant diamond light and sapphire blue depth has a modern, elegant and timeless effect
modern, elegant and timeless at the same time.
The fine craftsmanship of the goldsmiths is clearly visible on the back - the
the careful, open substructure not only ensures lightness and comfort,
but also allows light to pass through the stones and maximize their effect.
The earrings are in very good condition with minor signs of wear due to age.
An exceptional pair of large Art Deco earrings - rare, magnificent and of impressive craftsmanship.
A piece of jewelry for collectors and lovers of fine ironwork.
