This antique cameo ring dates from the second half of the 19th century around 1870/80.

It is crafted in 14-karat yellow gold.

The shank is wider towards the ring head and is designed with openwork floral elements.

This rare and extravagant ring is set with a marquise-shaped shell cameo. 

The cameo is carved in finest craftsmanship under the magnifying glass in detail from the flat shell in relief .

One part of the shell remains raised and the rest has been deepened to create the image of a lady.

This rare antique ring is an example of the craftsmanship of late 19th century jewelry making .
