- Open text field 1: French cameo ring gold
This antique hardstone cameo ring dates from the second half of the 19th century around 1890 from France.
It is crafted in 18-karat yellow gold.
The rail runs in three lines to the ring head.
The rare ring is set with a rectangular carnelian.
The carnelian gemstone is orange to reddish-brown and was already very popular as a gemstone in antiquity and the Middle Ages.
The cameo is carved in relief from the flat carnelian in the finest craftsmanship under a magnifying glass.
One part of the stone remains raised and the rest has been deepened to create the image of a lady.
The carnelian is framed by a total of 8 shimmering cream freshwater pearls.
The rare antique ring is an example of the craftsmanship of jewelry making from France in the late 19th century.
