It is multi-layered and on the front you can see a fine cameo, hand-carved from a shell, a lady's bust in side profile.
Her hair is richly decorated with roses, which is why it can be assumed that the lady depicted is the Roman goddess "FLORA".
The reverse also features a finely chased motif with a smooth background.
The rare antique pendant is gold-plated brass, as is the matching modern chain.
The locket is beautifully preserved and opens and closes perfectly.
